![]() He’s literally and figuratively washing the blood off, as the scene is punctuated by very brief flashbacks to the melee. But we then cut to the aftermath, with Amos standing under a showerhead. Amos, as predicted, finds himself surrounded by thugs, and it looks as though we’re about to see him beat them to shreds. This time, however, the show pulls off a genuinely moving avoidance of expectations. (“ I am that guy” remains one of our all-time favorite moments.) These scenes have almost always underscored Amos’ matter-of-fact, survive-at-all costs approach to everything, and in most cases, he at least appears to very quickly shrug off what he’s been forced to do. We’ve seen this sort of thing before: While “The Expanse” doesn’t revel in violence for its own sake, throughout the series Amos has been at the center of some of the show’s starkest physical confrontations. And as this will obviously lead to the extortionists taking revenge at some point, Amos decides to cut to the chase by heading over to the showers, where he knows they’ll come find him.Īlso Read: Amazon Drops Full Trailer for 'The Expanse' Season 4 - And Kevin Smith Recaps First 3 Seasons (Video) ![]() While in transit, Amos intervenes to stop an extortion racket taking advantage of the poorer passengers headed to the inner planets. The two are laughing together, and the episode ends with Amos leaving Bobbie to clean up the mess. Bobbie lets him go thinking there’s an actual emergency, and Amos throws her to the ground.Īnd just like that, we see the tension and resolution that the intro talked about. But at the last minute, the Roci mechanic manages to get the hand terminal out of his pocket and set off the ship’s alarms. “Go to sleep, little man,” she cajoles, as Amos slips closer to unconsciousness. She immediately gets Amos in a choke-hold. Amos agrees, then asks for some clarification…and as Bobbie is answering, he rushes her.īut this is Bobbie, and she is not to be messed with. You want people sniping at each other, hire me to do rewrites.Įventually, they start to actually get to each other, and the sniping turns to thinly veiled (if still amicable) threats. I got to add a bit of the back and forth between Bobbie and Amos to Glenton and Wes's draft, and Amazon's note was, "This is way too mean." So #TheExpanse603 XRay episode, "Win or Lose," is my favorite of them all.
